Hi, I’m Lindsay.

My family tree is full of nature enthusiasts and artists; makes sense I landed here. For the past few years, I have been learning the art of photography through trial and error, noticing & appreciating the magic around us, and the slowness that grief forces one to inhabit.

I’m excited to share with you my growing collections of dances with light.

Honored you’re here.

My Approach

I’ve been a mental health therapist for almost fifteen years and am attuned to detail, nuance, shifts, patterns. I see the good in people and delight in the magic of mother earth.

Grief was my gateway drug to birding; which has become a daily practice for nourishing my nervous system. The first Christmas without our mom, my artist brother gifted me the use of his first camera, a Sony a7, and a selection of lenses. An Aries, I fell in love with the opportunity to compete with myself and showcase my milestones for verbal affirmation. My dear friends have cheered me on, via my private stories and in texts, for the last three years. Not too long ago, I made a birding IG: @onlyfansofbirds. After proving dedication to the craft, my artist dad upgraded me to my own camera and lens- see if you can spot the difference in my portfolio!

Remain in awe

Behind my lens I am giggling at fledglings figuring out their wings, crying over morning dew on spiderwebs, and humbled by an interconnected system much grander than the unread emails sitting in my box.

tread lightly

As a photographer, I’m first a nature lover. Whenever I take photos I also give: water, food, gratitude. Careful not to disrupt the natural flow, I tread lightly and with care.

Authenticity

In lightroom: I mask the subject and background and make minimal adjustments- exposure, shadows, whites + blacks, tiny tint, texture/clarity/sharpen. Filters are a bit of nature between me and the subject.

When taking photos of people, I cannot help but be myself which often puts folks at ease & allows me capture genuine images! Adept at tracking the energy, I meet everyone where they are before nudging them a little more into the light.

Current Offering

I recently posted on a local women’s swap and trade FB group that I’ve been photographing birds for years and was looking to expand my portfolio by offering free family, headshot/branding, or newborn photos to interested folks. I’m working my way through my first dozen clients. Next, I’m going to put together package offerings and fee structures and open it up! Keep an eye out for that!

Curated photoshoots

Through thoughtful questionnaires and prep, an education in making-it-nice from Bravo programming and a mama angel who embodied southern hospitality, and a knack for whimsy and drawing delight out in people- a magical experience is produced. Expect your favorite beverage available, tunes on the breeze, and attuned direction from me- all to create a flow state to achieve those shots you were hoping for. Let’s dance in the light!

a bit about The Process

We will most likely be shooting in your habitat or mine. I will travel up to one hour from Fredericksburg, Texas- or I have access to a garden with stunning golden hour light if that’s your vibe. Prior to the shoot, we’ve discussed wishes, logistics, and signed a few agreements. At the start of the shoot, we’ll go over the forecasted game-plan whilst making necessary allowance for adaptability. Then we chase the light as I give suggestions and hype. Expect to be in a few poses- still and moving- whilst I work my way around finding the best of what drew us there. I’ll show you sneak peaks on my screen as we go. After the shoot, expect a quick turn around of a badass album.
